You are right, JJ really captured the spirit that Gene Roddenberry effused his vision of the future with. I joke about everything I know, I learned from Star Trek. I learned of the senselessness of bigotry, the dangers of over population, the cruelty of slavery, the value of education, the illogic of following blindly and many more things from the crew of the Enterprise. I was 5 years old when I started watching it, I will be forever grateful that I was watching Star Trek instead of the Beverly Hillbillies.
